We are all flying lighthouses
We have always believed that publishing is about sharing light. Authors create light from what they observe, research and imagine. Editors, printers, marketing and sales teams work together to send that light out. Bookstores carry it further and wider. And readers are searching for light: light that helps them grow, light that encourages or heals, light that carries them into another world.
In November 2026, Locus Publishing turns thirty. For thirty years we have wanted to share brilliant light with our readers, and to keep seeking out light that is unusual, subtle and less often experienced.
The world of 2026 is different. Social media, short videos, AI, and the breaking and rebuilding of many traditional values have changed where light comes from, the forms it takes, and what people need from it. Beyond lighthouses there are now fireworks, flares, neon signs and phone flashlights. But the lighthouse is not obsolete: however the world changes, our shared need for the light that books give does not.
The lighthouse must change too. Today's lighthouse has to move and fly. And it is not only publishers who are lighthouses: readers are lighthouses as well, sending and receiving light with one another. Every one of us is a flying lighthouse.
Looking back, we thank every author, partner, bookseller and reader who has walked with us through hope and joy, hesitation and hard times, rising and crossing over. Looking ahead, we will hold steady to our belief in sharing light, and keep exploring new ways of sharing it, so that we can travel further together.

30 Lights
Thirty themes, each matched to a moment in a reader's life, such as "if you feel lonely and want to be understood" or "if you are curious and want to explore new knowledge", with some 190 selected Locus titles. Which light do you need right now?
Glowing Lighthouses: 85 partner bookstores
From 30 October 2026, 85 partner bookstores across Taiwan display the 30 Lights titles and host their own anniversary events.
Books at Home
Readers share photos of the Locus books in their homes, on shelves, desks or bedside tables, with a few words about what those books mean to them.
Exchange Diary
Readers send handwritten letters to Locus, and at least 30 of our authors reply to letters drawn at random.
Light a New Light: limited edition vote
Readers vote for the classics they would most like to meet again in a new design. Ten titles will be released as special limited editions at the Taipei International Book Exhibition in February 2027.
Connecting Lights: Rex on the road
Our publisher Rex travels by handcycle from Fuguijiao Lighthouse at Taiwan's northern tip to Eluanbi Lighthouse in the far south, visiting bookstores and connecting authors, readers and booksellers along the way, with daily live streams (1–18 November 2026).
